Artist Statement
My paintings and drawings are an attempt to explain the unexplainable and to challenge the viewer’s take on reality in a gentle way. I use soft shapes and saturated colors to emphasize the beauty and raw-ness of the world around us. I have always found nature to be a comforting presence, the forests and hills of my home in the Mattole Valley have held me through my darkest times, and my happiest ones too. Nature does not judge, but offers an ear when you need to talk, and advice when you are ready to listen. My goal is both to preserve the insights that spending time in these places have given me, and also to share them with the world.
Previous Shows and Experience
I have brought my art into other peoples' worlds through the production and selling of cards with scans of my paintings, stickers, original paintings, an indoor mural I created for Vollmar Natural Lands Consulting in Arcata California, and various shows throughout Humboldt. My most recent public showings of my creations were in the Student Access Gallery at Cal Poly Humboldt, and a section in the magazine, Mark Makers' Quarterly.
Who is Rey Anyways??

He loves to paint, draw, and make comics, and is currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Visual and Public Art at CSU Monterey Bay. His dream is to become a full-time artist. All of Rey’s paintings are inspired by photos taken by the artist himself to ensure originality.
